Customer Bullying

So, as my loyal readers know, I switched from a Windows box to a Macbook a few months ago, and I'm delighted with the switch. Love the Mac. Totally blown away. Never looked back for a second, not even to my good buddy Firefox, because Safari was working just dandy for me.

Unfortunately, my bank doesn't do Safari. It won't even let me try. When I called customer service to make an account change the old-fashioned way, I was told they don't do that, either. (Uh, what?) I have to do all that online. I'd need to download Firefox.

But I don't want to download Firefox. I already have a browser that I like. I don't want to clutter up my machine with programs I don't myself want just because my bank likes them better. So I decided to take suggestion number two, which was to hop onto one of the Windows machines in our house long enough to make the online change to my account. Okay.

Only now I've found an incredibly cool stationery site that also won't play with Safari. Well, everything works splendidly until I try to use my credit card to pay. It keeps telling me my card's been declined. Shock! My bank patted me on the back and reassured me that my card's just fine, not blocked, I'm still in good graces; moreover, no transaction attempts had been recorded. Turns out it's a browser thing. Sigh.

So, yeah. Here I go. Downloading Firefox so I can go play with those sites that don't like my buddy Safari. Just like I used to keep a copy of Evil IE on my Windows box years ago, for those sites that didn't like my buddy Firefox.

Grrr.

Kisa Found Miraculously Alive at Other End of Wormhole into Delta Quadrant

...otherwise known as still here after moving.

The move went well, we're settling in, the kids like their new school and already have beaucoup playdates. The house is a dream. The Hubster and I still pinch ourselves every morning when we wake up and punch in matching cups of coffee from the built-in espresso machine. We have two ovens, one of which doubles as a microwave. We have a mud room. We have a view. We have a yard worthy of the name, and more cabinet space than Imelda Marcos has shoes. I have never loved a house this much.

The new Roomba is keeping the living room floor tidy (and is totally Speedybuns Zero's first true love). As for the rest of the house, I've found new depths of domestic zeal now that we have a house worth keeping clean.

There's scads more to tell, I'm sure, about the last four weeks, but I don't remember any of it. (How's that for a rude letdown?) Now that the tremors are subsiding, dust is settling, ripples are smoothing, et al ad nauseam *yawn* I really, truly do plan to post more often again. Honest.
